Join creating new theater space "OCHERET" in Kharkiv!

We are the team of independent natural theater "Ocheret", which opened in Kharkiv during full-scale war. In times when all state theaters are closed and equipped performance spaces are lacking, our goal remains unchanged – we continue forming creative community around the city, uniting artists from different fields and non-professional actors, working to return cultural focus to Kharkiv.

Since theater creation - our activity was purely volunteer, we held many film screenings, workshops, life drawings, plays and more. While we weren't fundraising for renovation - all profit went to open charity collections for AFU. Personal equipped space could give us opportunity to do this more often, productively, qualitatively, involving many people and Kharkiv artists, developing Ukrainian theater sector and returning to volunteer activity with bigger scale. We firmly believe that Kharkiv is theater center of Ukraine, and when to prove this if not now?
Thanks to "Druk" cultural center support we got premises assigned to us, but it needs renovation and equipment for full theatrical activity. Currently we raise funds through plays and contributions from caring viewers. Our team handles theater rebuilding ourselves - from removing whitewash to insulating premises, we also thank cultural center team and caring people for help with some work types.

Thanks to incredible Kharkiv community and our team - we already did certain part of cosmetic renovation in premises. But we need your help and support more than ever.
Project implementation involves re-equipping space for plays, workshops and other events. In future this will help our theater give plays more often, involve more youth and ambitious artists, and raise funds for volunteer initiatives. We plan transforming historic building into living center of modern theatrical art, open for collaborations and new ideas.
Challenges:
- Lack of proper theatrical space - theater got premises, but it needs renovation and equipment for full activity.
- Financial difficulties - all renovation costs are covered by team's own efforts, viewer contributions and caring people's support.
- Limited creative development opportunities - due to resource shortage theater cannot hold events as often as desired.
- Preserving volunteer activity - theater actively helps AFU, but without stable funding this activity is limited.
- Theater popularization as part of Kharkiv's cultural landscape - more people need to learn about theater and its role in city's artistic life.
Did you ever dream of building a theater? In Kharkiv? In the third year of full-scale war? We hope for your support, because we believe - through art one can find inspiration for future good deeds anytime.
