Development of sports sections for schoolchildren (Ultimate frisbee)

In 2019, the flying disc sport "Ultimate frisbee" became part of the school curriculum and now alongside other active games will be taught in physical education classes in Ukrainian schools and universities.

Presentations of the sport for schoolchildren and teachers took place in many regional centers, and Odessa was no exception. An experienced team of players spent a month (November 2019) as volunteers conducting a series of full lessons (30 hours) for 8-10 grade students at Odessa gymnasium #4.

And the culmination of these efforts was the creation of a sports section in after-school time at the sports complex of gymnasium #4.

The necessary equipment for starting training was purchased with volunteers' personal funds, which included about a dozen flying discs, fifteen training bibs, and several dozen cones for marking the playing field.

Over the following month, about 20 boys and girls attended three training sessions per week, who liked the game and the goals we set for the future sports team.

So what kind of game is Ultimate frisbee?

It's a team non-contact sport with a flying disc, where the game is played by two teams on a rectangular field with zones at the ends.

The goal — is to move the disc through passes across the playing field into the opponent's zone, where it must be caught by one of the team's players.

A distinctive feature of ultimate is the absence of referees (judges) and the presence of the concept of "Spirit of the Game".

Classes are free for children. To continue developing the project, increase the number of students, and launch the section in another Odessa school, 40,000 UAH is needed.
