Meeting place, cinema and warm evenings: "Community Park" summer cinema project in Shevchenko Park
We - the team of ICNGO "Youth Development Center" believe that a city is not just buildings and streets. It's people, their meetings, emotions and shared moments spent together. We operate in Zolotonosha community. The organization was formed as a volunteer initiative, and later became the initiator of creating Youth Center "ArtSpace" - a permanent space for supporting youth initiatives in the community.
Do you remember how festivals were held in Shevchenko Park before, teenagers hung out, everyone who wanted walked around - the park was alive, it was a unique place where life was bustling. The circumstances of our lives have changed this space too.
But we believe that Shevchenko Park should be given back the opportunity to give citizens moments of warm evenings with family, meetings with friends, outdoor cinema or discovering something new at workshops and other events.
Symbol of our home, our community, the opportunity to be together - let's create it together! The park we all know can become such a place again thanks to a summer cinema - an open, accessible and vibrant space for leisure, culture and communication.
The initiator of the project is the municipal youth public organization "Youth Development Center", which has been working for several years on developing active public life in Zolotonosha. This time the team proposes to create a modern outdoor cinema - a place where warm evenings will be filled with the atmosphere of cinema, music and friendly meetings.
What is the essence of the project?
On the territory of Shevchenko Park they plan to set up an outdoor cinema with a comfortable viewing area. Besides film screenings, creative evenings, lectures, meetings, local artists' performances and youth events can take place here.
The project also includes improvement of the adjacent territory: installation of benches, decorative elements, creating a safe and cozy space for families with children and youth.
Why is this important?
Today the community lacks accessible open locations for quality cultural recreation. The park space will become an alternative to passive leisure, promote local culture development and unite residents of different ages.
It's also an opportunity to support Ukrainian cinema, hold themed screenings, educational events and form a new culture of shared recreation in the city.
We have already conducted a preliminary survey and learned the opinions of community residents about park renewal (691 people participated in the survey).
The majority - 88% actively supports the idea of park renewal, so we confirmed our vision - to create a space where there will be place for people of different ages and interests. Zolotonosha residents would like to see here: concerts, master classes, fairs, festivals, lectures, meetings, youth events, children's activities. So it's not just about creating a summer cinema, but about returning life to public space.
How will the funds be used?
Collected funds will be directed to:
- Improvement and decorative elements;
- purchasing sound equipment and projector;
- setting up viewing area.
- creating interactive plaques about city history and culture
