First waste sorting station

Do you know about the harm of garbage to the environment and have long wanted to start sorting waste? But still haven't figured out how to do it comfortably and without wasting time? We understand you.

Despite the National Waste Management Strategy and Rules for Providing Household Waste Management Services, approved by the Cabinet, we still don't have comfortable infrastructure for handling all waste and a catastrophically small minority of residents are involved in the sorting process.

In Odesa there are containers for plastic bottles and aluminum cans, as well as for glass, but the issue with waste paper, tetra packs, non-liquid types of plastic, office equipment, and hazardous household waste (batteries and mercury-containing lamps) remains open.



To solve this issue, we want to open the first sorting station in Odesa. It will be under the balance of LLC "Ekovtor-17", which has experience and necessary material equipment in the field of waste collection and processing. At such a sorting station, Odesa residents will be able to leave for recycling or disposal not only valuable types of secondary raw materials (waste paper, plastic bottles and containers, scrap metal, glass), but also problematic raw materials that can be recycled but are not commercially interesting, or their disposal costs money.

Such a station can exist through the sale of valuable types of secondary raw materials. From money earned from selling secondary raw materials, the work of the station employee and disposal of problematic waste (batteries, lamps, office equipment) will be paid. The remaining money will be spent on charitable projects.

To equip the station, it's not necessary to rent premises. Waste collection can be organized in a cargo container. Finishing work can be done in it, windows and doors can be installed. For example, one of Kyiv's sorting stations looks like this:

The possibility to drop off sorted waste in one place, rather than taking it to different points, will simplify the sorting process for people and can become a motivating factor for those who can't decide to start sorting.
