"School Backpack 2024"

Starting from 2014 Charitable Foundation "Caritas Odesa UGCC" holds the "School Backpack" charity campaign every summer to provide necessary supplies to children in need by September 1st. In the first year, these were children from Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk who moved to Odesa due to war. Later the campaign was expanded to help large families and those with seriously ill children, as parents don't always have the opportunity to buy everything needed for school.

Since the beginning of full-scale invasion, the number of evacuated children and families in need has grown significantly. Today the charity cares for 3,000 children who need material aid and support. Caritas educational and psychosocial projects work in Odesa and Odesa region, where experienced teachers, social workers, psychologists work with children. During classes, specialists help children socialize, overcome fears, become more confident, teach mine safety, English, develop creativity, logical thinking, prepare for school etc. It's important for us that children have equal access to education and culture, so we regularly conduct excursions, visit theaters, organize meetings with outstanding people.
