School Chess League

UPDATED: The project team purchased new chess clocks. The expense report can be read here. A new season of the School Chess League starts in fall 2019.

Odesa City Chess Federation is a community of people who have been developing chess in the city for 4 years.
School Chess League is a team tournament among elementary school students (grades 1-4), the tournament runs throughout the school year with one game day each month. Each team has ten people: five main and five substitute players.

In the first season twenty teams participated, in the second - only six, as the equipment broke down. Most mechanical clocks we purchased failed. While any chess sets can be used, clocks available for sale now are either "disposable" or high-quality "indestructible" European standard.

Last year we held Ukraine's championship for children under 8. Our city hadn't hosted such a tournament for over ten years. Besides this, we do everything we can to popularize chess culture in the city. The School Chess League is held annually for these purposes. Tournament participation is free. We try to provide children with comfortable playing conditions. Now we need to purchase 16 special chess clocks for this.

Chess is one form of children's comprehensive development.
By helping us implement this project, you help grow a healthy, thinking, cultured society!
