"Veteran Taxi" Project

"Veteran Taxi" Project
The project idea emerged after an appeal from serviceman Mykola, who was wheelchair-bound due to injury and needed help with city transportation. It became clear that Uman had almost no accessible transportation options for veterans and people with similar needs.
Thus "Veteran Taxi" was born — an initiative helping veterans reach hospitals, rehabilitation centers, government institutions and other important places. It's not just about transport, but about staying mobile, independent and included in community life.
Since 2025 the project has completed 193 trips, and we now provide about 20 trips monthly. The project is supported by 4 local businesses that help with fuel and partially cover driver costs.
Why are we launching this fundraiser?
The project is already working, but due to constant use the vehicle needs regular repairs and maintenance. Without this, the service may become irregular or stop completely.
Funds raised will be directed to:
- vehicle repair and maintenance;
- keeping the car in working and safe condition;
- ensuring stable project operation.
This isn't fundraising for a new idea — it's supporting an existing service that helps people daily.
Why is this important?
For many veterans, even a regular trip to the doctor or rehabilitation center can be difficult. When people can't reach where they need to go, they postpone treatment, examinations or solving important issues.
"Veteran Taxi" helps remove this barrier. Thanks to the project, veterans can remain more independent and active in daily life.
This is also important for the community, as such initiatives show that veteran support can be not just words, but concrete and systematic help.
What changes do we seek?
Our goal is to make the project stable and accessible to more veterans. We aim to:
- increase trips from 20 to 30 per month;
- attract at least +60 new participants to the support community;
- form a core of 10 active supporters;
- expand service awareness.
For this we will regularly maintain social media — at least 3–4 posts monthly, share trip stories and engage local communities and partners in supporting the initiative.
How support will work
We aim to build not a one-time campaign, but a systematic model of regular project support.
For stable "Veteran Taxi" operation, predictability is important: the ability to plan maintenance and maintain regular transportation.
That's why regular donor participation is especially valuable — even small but consistent support.
Regular contributions allow:
- planning project work months ahead;
- responding quickly to technical needs;
- ensuring transportation continuity;
- gradually scaling the service.
By supporting the project regularly, people become part of a sustainable veteran assistance system.
How do we measure effectiveness?
Our main indicators are:
- number of trips;
- number of people who used the service;
- repeat veteran requests;
- number of new donors and partners;
- project information reach.
We also target at least 2000 monthly views on social media and track audience engagement with content.
