Blooming Fountain (planting flowering plants on B. Fontan)
Launched on: 27.10.2016

For 3 years now, we with friends and children from our and neighboring yards have been planting hibiscus (and other plants) along Bolshoy Fontan. In the first year we planted 50 pieces in 1 Saturday workday. In the second year over 200. And this year we planted over 400 seedlings. We planted from 8th station B.F. to 1st.

We took seedlings as gifts, since many grow as self-seeded plants in front gardens.
However, despite the fact that seedling survival rate is almost 100%, today about 30% remain alive. During this time several reasons were identified:
1. Lawn mowers.
We planted mainly seedlings up to 3 years old. They both take root better and are easier to plant. And we simply had them. But despite protecting them with stake fencing, the stakes disappear somewhere. And lawn mowers mow everything in a row, including meter-high seedlings.

2. "Unconscientious citizens" - some seedlings disappear. There's hope they were transplanted elsewhere. But it happens, especially with small ones, that they're trampled, pulled out, broken.

As a way out of this situation: taller seedlings + stronger and longer stakes + stricter instruction of lawn mowers.

Nevertheless, today many seedlings grow and delight the eye with their blooming, gaining height and density each year. And giving beauty to our beloved city.

On April 12 we planted in Cosmonaut Square on Srednefontanskaya.
Zelentrest graciously allowed planting seedlings in Cosmonaut Square on Srednefontanskaya. And even provided 5 shovels.
However, instead of the proposed alley, demanded planting their way. Had to agree. About 120 seedlings were planted. Practically all feel great and bloomed this same summer.
Many people joined right in the process. Just walking in the park, saw and wanted to plant seedlings too. There weren't even enough shovels and seedlings.

In principle, we've gotten into this business and like it. So we'll continue in any case. I'm just sure there are many more people who want to participate and would like to invite them with your help to this useful and beautiful work.

Thank you for your work! Success to us and prosperity!
