Urban Culture Festival "KryvBaz"
Kryvyi Rih Contemporary Culture Centre / KRCC promotes the city on Ukraine's cultural map, develops creative industries and creative economy in an industrial city, and meets residents' cultural leisure needs.
Kryvyi Rih is experiencing complex and critical events affecting its economic, social, psychological state and cultural development. Before the full-scale invasion, the city had problems with lack of cultural projects, innovative education, inclusive environments and leisure infrastructure. Due to Russian aggression, ferrous metallurgy enterprises were suspended, traditionally the pillar of the city's economic development. It hosts 8 of 11 Ukrainian iron ore mining and processing enterprises, accounting for 26.5% of all industry in Ukraine under normal conditions. This led to significant employment decline and economic instability threats. Lack of jobs and reduced economic activity negatively impacted local population's morale.
We decided to submit the "KryvBaz" project to the platform, as we see an urgent need to revive Kryvyi Rih's cultural life. We aim to solve the problem of limited access to diverse cultural events and lack of platform for expressing and developing local talents. Our motivation is fueled by desire to strengthen the city's cultural identity, support creative entrepreneurship and promote social integration through shared cultural experiences.
Involvement in the "KryvBaz" project is important for the community, as it improves quality of life, develops cultural diversity and promotes opening Kryvyi Rih as an attractive place for living, creativity and tourism. We believe our project can become a catalyst for change, creating an inspiring environment where everyone can find a place for self-expression and realizing their ideas and dreams.
Our key achievements include:
Over 4 exhibition projects; over 6 workshops for children and adults; Study Trip to Lviv for cultural and creative industry figures of Kryvyi Rih; 5 coworking events "Cultural Friday"; conducted 4 live broadcasts with cultural and creative industry figures "Let's Talk: Culture. People. Ideas"; released season of podcasts "Anatomy of Personality"; implemented two educational programs; urban culture festival "KryvBaz"; held open competition Open Pitching Event 2024; musical performance by DakhTrio "Tychyna: Phenomenon of the Era"; international animation festival LINOLEUM; residency "Kryvyi Rih: Cultural Heritage".
The last "KryvBaz" festival became a significant event in the city's cultural life, contributing to its cultural development. Over 400 visitors joined the two-day festival. Link to the event.
