EcoRoute project development for 2021

EcoRoute — a permanent environmental project that enables Odesa residents to send waste for recycling. Since EcoRoute's existence from 2018, the project team has conducted 33 EcoRoutes, 13 of them in 2020. For this, we rent a cargo minibus once a month and make stops at the main city squares, totaling 10-15 locations per day.

With the funds received from waste collection, we cover EcoRoute expenses. Meanwhile, we need crowdfunding to increase location numbers and frequency, as each new location brings greater financial losses we cannot cover independently.

This year 12,000 eco-conscious people joined our community, together we collected 14 tons of recyclables. These figures show the project is relevant for Odesa city.

Despite these results, many people still cannot join EcoRoute due to their geographic location. Monthly we received messages from people in Slobodka, Moldovanka, Kotovsky Settlement requesting EcoRoute expansion and increased frequency. There are almost no alternatives for waste separation in these areas, and all their plastic, glass and paper are doomed to end up in general landfills.

In 2021 we plan to cover 6 more locations in each district, totaling 24 locations citywide, where EcoRoute will run every 2 weeks instead of monthly.

This will let us send over 5000 kg of waste for recycling monthly!

All waste collected on EcoRoute is sent to "Vtorma" environmental enterprise, from where it goes to recycling facilities across Ukraine.
