Ecolocation

Paper products are something without which it's hard to imagine our lives. Daily we use napkins, office paper and cardboard. We buy products and equipment in cardboard packaging.
The city has no special containers for waste paper, yet each family collects about 3-6 kg of paper waste monthly and 80% of such raw materials simply perish in general waste.
By throwing paper waste into landfills, we support deforestation and continue polluting the environment. Besides this, manufacturing products from recycled materials takes less energy, which reduces its negative impact on the environment.
Paper thrown into landfills becomes unsuitable for further processing. Collecting and delivering it to collection points is prohibited for sanitary-hygienic reasons. Therefore it's important that the maximum amount of waste paper goes to recycling plants, bypassing landfills.
The solution is installing special containers, initially near the library, near the market where up to 20 kg of cardboard boxes are thrown away daily, and also in the park.
To motivate people to sort not only plastic but also paper waste, we organized the social project "Ecolocation" based at children's library #40. For over six months we've been collecting waste paper, but can do this in very limited quantities.
We plan to expand our zone of influence and install containers with approximately 400 kg capacity.
To show people that waste can turn into useful things, we use the proceeds to purchase books for the library.
Currently we purchase 1 book per month with collected funds, but this efficiency can be significantly increased. In future the project can develop independently: 10% of profit for environmental actions, lectures, eco-bags, helping other environmental projects; 10% for purchasing containers.
Together we can not only help our planet but also provide better quality materials for children's education.
