Saving animal lives during war
We are the team of "Dog for You" animal shelter. Yana, Olena, dog Kasya and cat Masya.We socialize and place dogs from combat zones and those no one wanted to take from shelters, sitting there for years, into families.
We met the start of full-scale invasion in Kyiv region, in Lukyanivka village, occupied on March 1st.
We had 12 dogs in socialization then, and no car to evacuate them from the combat zone. 2 rescue expeditions volunteers tried to organize failed.On March 13th we left through green corridor with all dogs. Neighbors agreed to take us in their car. 5 people and 14 dogs in a passenger car drove 6 hours to Kyiv. We eventually evacuated all dogs abroad, though without a car it seemed impossible.
Already at Polish border, we placed 8 dogs, and went to Germany with the rest, though finding transport took long, as no drivers wanted to take dogs in cars. Over these two years we've come a long way. We evacuated over 100 animals from Ukraine's hot spots, and found them loving families in Europe.We even made videos about it, visible on our social media.

But all these dogs needed socialization before going to families. Doing this in Germany was very difficult and not quite legal. So finally we decided to return home❤️.
Dog socialization goes much better now. We've been home 3 months, restored shelter a bit, first 11 dogs already went home. Number of animals we care for now grew to 23. Our goal is dogs stay in shelter max 1-2 months, for quick family search! But while with us, our tailed charges need care and treatment.
All faced war or cruel treatment. Have physical or mental issues, so need painstaking socialization and treatment work. We live 40 km from Brovary, where medical facilities can help us when needed, or must go to Kyiv, 60 km away, so we must find cars each time to take animals to vet clinics. For example, now we have Miriam, who had paw amputated due to sarcoma, Fox, who got incurable concussion after Kakhovka dam explosion, Barik, hit by car with paralyzed hind legs. All need medical supervision. We'll definitely find families for all of them.
Also, we need to take dogs going abroad to Kyiv, pick up animals abandoned by families throughout the area. But now, sadly, no one to transport our dogs, as men are at war, few cars left and sometimes dogs can't even reach families abroad because no one could take them to Kyiv..
