Wood Workshop

Today we'll tell you about one direction of our project, namely the "Wood Workshop".

There's war in the country, absolutely all people are traumatized. Many children lost their homes, usual life, friends, hobbies and favorite toys. Now children who moved to Odesa are confused and lonely, they have no friends, interesting activities and safe place where they could feel free enough to relax and release all tension, where they could meet new people, find friends, master new activity, learn useful skills. So we created such safe space for them. For over a year in our center there's a symphony of hammers, dust, drills, files created by children aged 7 to 15. During this time we welcomed over 150 children and teenagers. Under careful supervision and guidance of master Peter children learned to use all carpentry tools, acquired useful skills, created toys and musical instruments, found friends. Work in wood workshop has therapeutic effect, as physical work helps disconnect from external troubles and focus on process, active movement - releases tension and emotions, mastering new skills - gives solid ground and confidence, creating product - gives joy and happiness.

We want to help more children, as we see results of our activity. A month ago, wood workshop moved to bigger premises and now we need help to equip it.
