Paw of Good

We aim to solve the problem of homeless dogs and cats in Kharkiv and want to unite creative and active people into a strong community of city residents who care about stray animals by establishing and systematizing mechanisms for adoption, vaccination and sterilization of stray animals. We are a team from the public organization Kharkiv Eco City and the permanent commission on environmental issues and ecology of the city Youth Council of Kharkiv.

Our goal is to develop responsible attitudes towards animals, so that pets are not thrown out on the street and people don't walk past stray animals who need help finding shelters and owners.

So that every Kharkiv resident knows how to help a stray animal and what path, from veterinary clinic through shelters or foster homes, cats and dogs go through to find new owners. So they know that by buying cute postcards and animal stickers from "Paw of Good" in local cafes - he or she helps solve the issue of stray animals in Kharkiv.

This is the most humane and ethical way of dealing with stray animals compared to euthanasia and other methods practiced today in our city.

We are creating this community based on the project "Paw of Good".

Its activity consists of selling creative printed products (stickers, sticker packs, sticker books and postcards) on the theme of stray animals, developed by Kharkiv and national illustrators.

This printed products will be sold in partner establishments of the project — primarily in cafes. The product range will constantly change, as each quarter we will involve new illustrators who will develop new illustrations.

Also, we plan to implement collaborations in the form of illustrations with famous personalities of Kharkiv and Ukraine on the theme of their interaction with their own pets.

We plan to help privately owned foster homes.

Today the main type of help to such foster homes is transactions to volunteers' bank cards. We consider this scheme ineffective. That's why we plan to establish a permanent and stable mechanism for caring for animals in these foster homes. Our team calls this procedure "accreditation".

Besides caring for animals in these foster homes, we also plan to improve the quality of their living conditions and promote adoption mechanisms (finding new families).
