Building "Mriya" shelter for evacuated animals

The project is implemented by Gostomel Shelter owner Maria Vronska and HelpAnimals UA co-founder Dariya Shcherbyna.
• Gostomel Shelter today cares for over 700 animals.
• HelpAnimals UA specializes in rescuing critically ill animals, animals from the front, wounded, disabled and complex cases.
We have saved thousands of lives, hundreds of animals have found new families. Our team has years of practical experience, works with the best veterinarians and actively involves volunteers. However, the situation in Ukraine with homeless and evacuated animals is critical: war daily leaves them without homes and chances of survival.
We see that even with colossal efforts of existing shelters, it's not enough. That's why we united and initiated creation of "Mriya" Center for evacuated animals — a unique European-format space. Here every cat and dog will receive decent conditions, recovery and a chance for new life. This is our response to the catastrophic animal situation in the country.
"Mriya" Center will allow simultaneous rescue and care for up to 100 evacuated animals from frontline areas.
What do we strive for? Daily walks, socialization, games and training instead of cages and lifelong enclosures. Professional help from rehabilitators and animal psychologists. Quality nutrition, medical care, safe and spacious living. Fast adaptation and adoption of animals into new families.
This is not just a shelter – it's a chance for a new story for those affected by war.
Through transparent reporting and involvement of donors, volunteers and partners, we aim to reduce the number of homeless animals, increase responsible attitudes in society and give a chance at life to those abandoned.
