Bardak. 5th Festival of Short Independent Ukrainian Cinema

To do our best so the festival exits the marginal zone, becomes iconic for Kharkiv and Ukraine. Also to have the opportunity to reward festival participants: make awards, merch, monetary rewards.
"Bardak" is an independent short film festival held annually in October in Kharkiv. This year the festival will run from September 26 to October 2, 2021.

Bardak wants to gather unrecognized heroes, show their films and create a community of filmmakers who strive not only to create, but also to show. The latter is most important. Bardak is not just another screening for a narrow circle of viewers. We set the task to show our winners throughout the country.

The main thing is to show the diversity of Ukrainian cinema for Kharkiv residents and city guests.
"Bardak" features short works up to 30 minutes, filmed without state participation in all forms: animated videos, comedies, music videos, musicals, documentary and fiction works, stories, tik-toks.

Can participate:
- Ukrainians;
- who filmed their fresh (no more than two years) short work;
- filmed without state participation in all forms
- films are not limited in genres: we accept fiction and documentary, we accept dramas, comedies, parodies, cartoons, experiments;
- maximum length of your film should be 30 minutes.

Winners are determined by audience voting, and the best film receives "The Glass" – the main "Bardak" prize. Festival jury awards jury prize and recognition.

Each year over 150 works are submitted to the festival.
In 2017 there were two crazy non-stop marathons of 8 hours of films.
In 2018, 2019, 2020 — there were 4 sessions of 90 minutes each.
Each screening revealed a lot of unusual in Ukrainian cinema.
For example, this is the audience choice short film "Starded".
And this is the jury's choice — "Come on, Yura, come on! / Go, Yura, go! dir. Alexander Chernobay"
Now Ukrainian short films need our support, interest and recognition more than ever. Let's try together to bring some order to this "mess", support "Bardak" and help the 5th independent short film festival take place in Kharkiv
