Green Theatre

Green Theatre in T. G. Shevchenko Central Park of Culture and Recreation is the first and only open-air amphitheatre in Odessa. Starting from the 1930s, it set new standards in the city's cultural life and was considered one of the most visited and popular summer concert venues.

In Soviet times, Alla Pugacheva, Edita Piekha, Sofia Rotaru, Arkady Raikin, Mikhail Vodyanoy, Anna German, Tarapunka and Shtepsel performed here. In the 70s, people came here hoping to hear covers of The Beatles, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin performed by Polish and Czech bands. And in August 1996, the amphitheatre hosted the farewell concert of the legendary band "Nautilus Pompilius".
Then for almost 20 years the theatre stood abandoned, gradually turning into ruins. In 2015, Impact Hub Odessa set a goal to renovate the Green Theatre. Not so much with the help of bricks and cement, but by embodying modern ideas about quality and useful recreation in the old facility.

We decided to combine the theatre and park format and transform the familiar place for concerts and walks into something bigger. This is how the 21st century Green Theatre was born – a multifunctional public space for inspiration, development and recreation. It is the only theatre-park zone in Ukraine that offers a set of cultural, educational and ecological activities. The theatre is working its fourth season, and during this time audiences have seen world cinema classics on the big screen, major film premieres, concerts by Dakh Daughters and Benjamin Clementine, listened to poetry by Sergey Zhadan and Dmitry Bykov, communicated at creative evenings with Garri Bardin, Marat Gelman and Seva Novgorodtsev. There's still much more to come!
