GladPet Kharkiv Launch
Every pet gets parasite treatment, vaccination, and a home!
The project successfully started in October 2021 and continues to operate successfully now thanks to financial contribution for administrative costs from our partner, the veterinary clinic "Dog & Cat".
Therefore, the current crowdfunding campaign is now focusing on parasite treatment and vaccination of 47 cats against viral diseases and rabies at the "Kotovsky" shelter during January-March 2022. This is currently the priority need of this shelter, which joined GladPet Kharkiv. Currently, 31 cats are already overdue for vaccination, and 16 are approaching the deadline.
It's important now to raise funds and conduct vaccination and treatment so these pets from the shelter stay healthy and can find loving families.
Kharkiv has over 5,000 homeless animals.
Every day we walk past cats and dogs on the street and don't know how to improve their lives. This shows the importance and urgency of this problem in society. Some animals live on the streets without proper care, nutrition and veterinary help. Others are in shelters. These animals need physical, veterinary, financial and informational help to find loving families. So let's help them together with us.
The GladPet project has been helping pets find homes in Odesa and more than 60 settlements in Ukraine for 6 years.
Over these 5 years:
- 6,290 animals found new families;
- 6 festivals for homeless animal adoption were held, where 350 cats and dogs found homes;
- over 200 interactive lessons were conducted for Odesa schoolchildren about pet care and keeping rules.
The team decided to scale GladPet to Ukrainian cities. Kharkiv will be first!
GladPet Kharkiv — an opportunity for everyone to:
- Find your future pet through the website and take it home from the shelter for free.
- Become a shelter volunteer (information curator, photographer, dog sitter (walk dogs), dog trainer, veterinarian, driver, handyman).
- Help shelters with pet supplies, medications, warm clothes and other things.
- Post photos and information about animals looking for families.
- Become a guardian for an animal: provide it with food, veterinary medications and hugs.
Currently, several shelters are already registered on our online resource, about 20 users have already posted their charges looking for families. And we do everything so that animals posted on the site find homes.
Our idea is already supported by veterinary clinic "Dog & Cat". They have long understood the urgency of the large number of homeless animals problem and were looking for ways to systematically influence the situation. "Dog & Cat" clinic are the main project partners in cat and dog welfare and health care.
Our goals for the next 2 months:
- Find homes for 100 pets.
- Post 300 animals on the website.
- Register 10 shelters on the website.
- Conduct 2 volunteer trips to shelters and make such trips regular.
- Hold 2 educational events and attract over 100 participants
