War Diabetes - adaptation and support for people diagnosed with diabetes during war

Public Organization "Dia-Zen" has been helping people with diabetes for five years. We provide not only material support (blood sugar measurement and control devices), but also moral support.
Diabetes, as an incurable disease, strongly affects a person's psychological state, especially now, during wartime. The diabetes incidence rate amid the stress, physical and psychological burdens that war brings is shocking. Therefore, it's important to help as early as possible a person who has heard about this incurable diagnosis, their own or their child's.
Currently, only in Ukraine there are officially over 220 thousand insulin-dependent people. And clinical observations record growing diabetes detection among both military and civilian population.
Our team aims to develop a therapeutic psychological support program that includes:
- Group meetings with a psychologist that will help group therapy participants see they're not alone with their problem, learn how others cope with diabetes and gain useful experience;
- Individual psychological consultations for those more comfortable receiving private support;
As a result, we'll conduct an interview with the psychologist about the experience gained in groups and other psychological support possibilities for people with diabetes and develop practical advice for the general public, which we'll publish on our social media page.
Diabetes can happen to anyone and our task is to show that living quality life with this disease is possible! We've tested it ;)
