Patient rehabilitation at Superhumans Odesa

A million sounds like a very large number.
But it can start with a hundred hryvnias from a person who just bought a book at the festival. With five hundred from someone who came to hear their favorite author. With a thousand from someone who won't even be in Odesa this September, but wants to be part of PORT and our shared effort.
Because a million is not about one large sum.
It's about a great many people who one day decided to do something important together.
That is why this year the literary festival PORT together with Superhumans is launching "A Million for Recovery" — a fundraiser of 500,000 hryvnias for the rehabilitation of military personnel and civilians affected by the war.
Just as a million is made up of countless contributions, great recovery is made up of small steps.
One more movement.
One more training session.
One more day working with a rehabilitation specialist.
One more step toward greater independence.
Why is PORT here?
On September 5–6, Odesa will speak about books, culture, memory, and the future at the literary festival PORT.
And we want more than just conversations, new acquaintances, books read, and warm memories to remain after these two days.
We want to leave behind a very concrete result — 500,000 hryvnias for the rehabilitation of Superhumans Odesa patients.
Last year PORT gathered 5,000 visitors, and together with festival guests we managed to raise funds for tactical medicine for the BF Monsters Corporation.
This year we will pursue our goal with the entire PORT community: readers, writers, musicians, publishers, businesses, partners, and simply people who care about what is happening around them.
Because this million is not only about PORT and not only about Superhumans.
It is about a large community of people who can do something important together.
Who are we helping?
Superhumans helps Ukrainian military personnel and civilians who have been affected by the war to restore their health, physical activity, and independence, and to return to a full life.
One of the Superhumans centers in Ukraine operates in Odesa, where patients undergo comprehensive physical rehabilitation.
All Superhumans services are free for patients.
But for them to remain free for those who need help, the center requires constant support from people, businesses, and partners.
All funds from our fundraiser will be directed toward the rehabilitation work of Superhumans Odesa.
This is not a fundraiser for one specific patient.
Every day, different people need help. Some are just beginning their path to recovery, some are already taking their next step, and others still have a great deal of work ahead.
That is why, together with Superhumans, we decided to support not one specific story.
We want to help these stories continue every day.
Why culture?
PORT was born in Odesa as a festival about the culture of Ukrainian South.
We believe that culture is capable of preserving memory, giving us words for the most difficult things, and bringing people together.
And also — of turning that "together" into concrete action.
That is why this September we want to gather around PORT not only people who love books.
We want to raise a million for recovery.
Together with Superhumans and festival participants we are preparing special charitable activities. If you have the opportunity to be with us on September 5–6 in Odesa — come. We will be glad to welcome everyone.
But you can become part of this million right now.
