Plast Odesa raises funds for adventure equipment

Plast Odesa is a local branch of Plast, the National Scout Organization of Ukraine, which unites children, teenagers, youth and adult volunteers around shared values: responsibility, mutual support, love for Ukraine and active civic engagement.

Plast is not just a weekend club or holiday entertainment for children. It's an environment where youth learns to be independent, work in teams, take responsibility, overcome difficulties and become people capable of changing the country around them.

Plast Odesa actively grows despite war, instability and constant challenges. In recent years our team organized dozens of events for children and youth: winter camp, various trainings, trips, patriotic-educational events to promote and study Ukrainian traditions, volunteer initiatives and training for adult educators. We hold regular meetings for children, train new volunteers, create new groups and work to give more children in Odesa access to quality Ukrainian youth environment. Daily we receive requests from parents for Plast for children. Our dream is that every child in Odesa region who wishes could join us.

Today around Plast Odesa a strong community of children, parents, volunteers and organization friends is forming. We're united by desire to raise a generation of people who won't stand aside but take responsibility for their community, city and country. We want Ukrainian youth to have space for development, adventures, friendship and forming values that stay with a person for life.

That's why we launch this fundraiser. This summer we plan to hold our first major youth camp. For us it's a very important step, as a real Plast camp is the culmination of the Plast academic year. There children learn independence, leadership, cooperation, survival skills, caring for others and living in nature.

But to conduct a quality and safe camp we need basic equipment: tents, cauldrons, tools, ropes, tarps, camping and camp equipment. These are items that will serve for years and allow events for more children.

We believe investment in capable youth today is investment in Ukraine's future. Plast helps children and youth not only gain skills but shapes character, resilience, leadership and sense of community. This is especially important now.
