LightKulyk — cinema that unites the community
In the small villages of our community, there is no place where you can spend time with the whole family, watch a movie, or simply meet for something interesting. Children and youth after prolonged distance learning are increasingly withdrawing into themselves, communicating little, rarely going beyond home. In the center of Kulikivka, you can still find an event or concert, but in remote villages — leisure is practically absent. This is what prompted the creation of the project.
We at the Cultural Services Center have long been looking for ways to give people not only events, but a sense of unity. We organize concerts, festivals, workshops, actively involve youth in creativity and volunteering. During the pandemic and since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we stayed with the community even at a distance. And now we want to give something bright, alive, close — a space for meetings, joy and communication.
This is how the idea of a traveling outdoor cinema was born — a project we called LightKulyk. This will be a modern, mobile cultural format that will travel from village to village. One evening — cartoons for children, another — good films for older ones. And always — a friendly atmosphere, sincere conversations and a space where everyone feels part of a large community.
The name LightKulyk is symbolic: kulyk — a bird from which the name Kulikivka originated, and also — an image of wandering and lightness. And Light — this is both the light of the projector, and the light in people's eyes, and simply — a light, accessible format of culture for everyone.
We are submitting this project here, on the crowdfunding platform, because we believe: only together with people who understand the value of culture, communication and support, can we bring LightKulyk to life.
Every donation is a contribution to cinema that comes to people. This is an opportunity to give children a childhood with cartoons, and adults — warm memories and live communication. This is our joint project.
Expected changes are simple, but very necessary. Children and youth will socialize, the community will unite, a new tradition will appear — evening outdoor movie viewing. This will not just be a project — this will be a new format of community unity.
LightKulyk is not just cinema. It is a wing of culture that touches every village. And we sincerely want this wing to take flight.
