Free sterilization of homeless animals
Launched on: 06.03.2024

The GladPet team continues the sterilization project for homeless animals to create a solution for uncontrolled breeding, which leads to overpopulation and suffering of pets, as well as deterioration of sanitary standards in communities. The main focus is preventing unplanned pregnancies and the birth of new generations of homeless animals.

Animal sterilization is the responsibility of every owner or caretaker of an animal, because if this procedure is neglected, then in three years one uncastrated male and one unspayed female can bring into the world about 512 dogs and 382 cats. One of the humane ways to reduce the number of animals on the street is precisely their sterilization.

Why sterilize homeless and domestic animals at all?

  1. The animal's lifespan increases by 3-5 years. Neutered pets on average live 25% longer than their unneutered counterparts.
  2. The risk of cancer is reduced, as castration prevents some common inflammatory and oncological diseases.
  3. They stop marking territory.
  4. Due to behavioral changes, it reduces the risk of injuries in fights and death on the street, animals become less aggressive.
  5. The number of homeless animals decreases.

Previous implementations of a similar project, with the veterinary clinic "Exvet", helped conduct sterilizations for 177 animals in Odesa, which reduced the population of homeless animals by 39,336 cats and dogs. The project is still being implemented. We invite everyone who cares to join the fundraising and information support, tell about the project on social networks. Every repost brings the project implementation one step closer.
