Kodra Park: a space of dignity, recreation and care
Before the full-scale invasion, the village of Kodra in Kyiv region had an ordinary green zone. On the eve of the war, local residents began to develop the territory — preparing a vision, planning the territory, laying tiles, creating a place for recreation. But the work had to be stopped: the war took away resources, opportunities and plans.
Today we return to this idea — with new strength, deeper meaning and a common goal. We want to transform this territory into an inclusive public space, where everyone — regardless of age, physical abilities or war experience — can find support, peace, joy and a sense of belonging.
💡 What we plan to do:
- 🌳 Green the park and plant trees;
- 🪑 Create recreation areas with benches and shade canopies;
- 🧱 Arrange convenient barrier-free paths with paving stones;
- 🏀 Create an inclusive sports ground;
- 🎭 Adapt the territory for cultural events, including the traditional "Kum Festival".
🧩 Why is this needed?
We live in a time when every place matters. Space can heal — from trauma, anxiety, loneliness. Our park is for veterans, families, children, elderly people, people with disabilities. It will become a place of rehabilitation, unity and hope, where the community will learn to be together again.
🌱 Social impact:
Our vision is a park that doesn't just decorate the village, but unites.
A space where veterans feel community gratitude, families feel unity, children feel joy, and people with special needs feel equality.
This is about inclusion, respect, rehabilitation, dialogue and restoring trust.
We strive for the renewed Kodra Park to become an example of how a place can change a community. And how a community, even in the most difficult times, is capable of creating an inspiring future.
