Return Exhibition: Reviving Lost Collective Memory
Launched on: 12.08.2025

The Local History Museum of Sudova Vyshnia is working on creating a new exhibition, the purpose of which is to return from oblivion the names of people who were the heart of the public, cultural and national life of our community during the 19th - first half of the 20th century.

In Soviet times, their names were silenced, they were erased from history and to this day remain undeservedly forgotten. Their contribution to the national life of the community is little known. They were a generation of people who worked on building Ukrainian statehood - each in their own place and usually in difficult conditions that often required sacrifice.

Due to the demographic catastrophe of World War II and the prohibition on studying the past of one's local region, collective memory in the community has been largely lost (this is a general trend). Our goal is to revive it, collect and present the stories of our outstanding countrymen in a museum space worthy of their legacy.

Research into biographies requires careful search for materials in libraries and archives, browsing through thousands of pages of press publications. We work tirelessly in this direction and have considerable achievements. However, to implement the exhibition, we need to:

purchase modern exhibition equipment (acrylic frames with spacer holders, 15 pcs.);

produce quality informational and visual materials (information posters for these frames, 15 pcs.);

We strive to design a space that will be accessible, meaningful and deeply emotional for visitors.

Our project is about restoring historical justice (returning names to collective memory), about forming local pride (feeling connected to roots), engaging student youth (studying biographies of little-known figures becomes part of educational programs, excursions, quests; forming a view of history not from a textbook perspective), strengthening intergenerational dialogue.

Also, our project will be the foundation for further research, the museum gets a chance to become a center for local history research.
