Chill-space: territory of leadership and safety at Voznesensk school
HISTORY: How youth dreams became our common cause
This project wasn't born in offices. Its story began in February this year during a budget literacy workshop. Then 9-10 grade students within the advocacy campaign "Energy of Change: Leadership Laboratory" learned to write real change projects. Our initiative group of four active community residents served as mentors for youth.
The initiative continued the work of our Human Rights Media Education Film Club Docudays UA, operating at Voznesensk Village Council. During practice, children voiced their main need: creating a modern "Chill-space" at school. We saw this sincere request and united to help students transform their paper plans into a real comfort place.
PROBLEM: 156 students and no recovery space
Today 156 children study at Voznesensk school. Daily war stress requires psychological relief spaces. Unfortunately, breaks now happen in corridors on old wooden benches that don't promote rest or quality communication.
Children lack a "safety island" — a comfortable place to "switch off" tension for 15 minutes. This zone's absence increases stress and fatigue levels. We want to prove to youth that school is a space where their ideas matter and children's voices are heard.
SOLUTION: Multifunctional hub in school corridor
Our "Chill-space" transforms part of the school corridor (6 windows area) into a modern location. Through partnership with Docudays UA Film Club, the space will have three functions:
- Media education zone: Professional projector, wall screen and acoustics will enable documentary screenings, community educational events and youth workshops.
- Active relief zone: To release tension we'll install professional table football (anti-vandal series) and modern board games.
- Relaxation zone: 12 XL bean bags and Loft tables on metal frames will create home coziness. Vertical blinds on windows will ensure privacy and darkening for screenings.
PROJECT BUDGET (161 000 UAH)
Every hryvnia invests in quality that will serve for years:
Cinema: Projector, screen, acoustics and bracket — 50 000 UAH.
Furniture: 12 reinforced bean bags and 2 metal frame tables — 42 000 UAH.
Games: Reinforced table football and game set — 30 000 UAH.
Comfort and installation: Blinds for 6 windows, cables and installation services — 24 000 UAH.
Logistics: Large furniture delivery to our community — 15 000 UAH.
WHO IS THIS PROJECT FOR?
Main heroes are 152 Voznesensk school students. The space will also become an open platform for community initiative youth and Docudays UA Film Club events at the village council.
