The project will be implemented on the territory of Korop TG in the settlements of Nekhaiivka and Shabalyniv.
Elderly people who have been left without family support, found themselves in difficult life situations and are forced to live out their lives in social institutions, face daily difficulties that most people don't even think about: how to safely get to the toilet, how to take a shower, how not to feel shame and dependence during the simplest hygiene procedures.

We are doing this project because:
- we want people who have spent their lives working and are forced to live out their lives away from their home to feel dignified, comfortable and safe in our institutions;
- we want to ensure the possibility of caring for wards without causing unnecessary pain and stress;
- we want staff to be able to provide quality care without unnecessary difficulties and physical strain;
- we want sanitary rooms to be accessible to people with reduced mobility and people with disabilities, to comply with the requirements of Ukrainian legislative documents (DBN, SanPiN, DSP).

In Korop settlement territorial community, two departments of inpatient care for permanent or temporary residence operate.
Currently, 47 wards are staying in them: 23 men and 24 women, including 14 people with disabilities, 14 bedridden, 19 people aged 80+. The wards of these institutions are people with reduced mobility (29 people have IV and 18 V group of motor activity) who need special living conditions and care.

According to the requirements and recommendations, the arrangement of these institutions should meet a number of requirements that guarantee safety, comfort and accessibility for elderly people and people with disabilities. Today, baths and sanitary-hygienic rooms do not fully comply with DBN requirements in terms of inclusion and barrier-free access and need modernization.
With our own resources from the local budget, we carried out cosmetic repairs of social institution premises. But the main problem that needs urgent solution is updating plumbing and auxiliary equipment. The existing material and technical support of the institutions is morally and physically outdated, does not fully satisfy the requirements of users and service personnel.
Implementation of the project will create safe, comfortable and inclusive living conditions for wards of two inpatient care departments.
Thanks to the renovation of sanitary-hygienic rooms, a number of positive changes will be achieved:
- dignified conditions for daily care, reduction of physical discomfort and risk of injury
- ability to partially or fully serve themselves
- reduction of physical load on service personnel
- compliance of infrastructure with current DBN regarding barrier-free access, which corresponds to the state's course on inclusivity
- effective partnership between local government bodies, community and donor
This project is about humanity, about respect, about our common understanding that old age, illness or disability should not be a sentence to suffering.
