Vehicle for transporting disabled people

Our physical therapy center MOTUS has existed for about a year. We rehabilitate people with neurological injuries. We help people recover after injuries and strokes, work with children with cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, musculoskeletal problems.

Some of our patients — are people with disabilities. Often it's very difficult for them to get to the center for sessions, as they move in wheelchairs. Besides being technically difficult, it's also expensive. In most cases, coming to the center and going back costs more than the session itself. Moreover, not every car can transport a person with limited mobility along with their wheelchair.

The city has disabled taxi service, but its capabilities are very limited and it's not possible to arrange regular scheduled transportation to sessions.

We want to buy a specially equipped vehicle and deliver our patients to sessions completely free. This will give many people the opportunity to receive physical therapist services in a well-equipped center. This is a second chance for many, an opportunity to return to normal life or adapt to independent living.

Today more than 30 people attend our center, mostly children. Delivering our patients to the center will give their parents and relatives the opportunity to take care of themselves, get some free time. This is a very important psychological factor for those whose loved ones have disabilities and need constant care.

The expenses from organizing such a service (fuel, driver salary, vehicle maintenance) we plan to partially place on socially responsible sponsors, partially take on ourselves. In any case, the transportation service for our patients must be completely free. This is fundamental for us.

Currently some of our patients attend the center either free or with partial payment. Sponsors help us. Usually these are ordinary people or commercial companies. By the way, our center was completely built and equipped with sponsor money.
