"Path from pain to freedom" — is the thorny path that all Ukraine walks since the war began, and primarily it is paved by our defenders, daily repelling enemy attacks in the name of Freedom. One word, but what a great price: wounds, captivity, disappearance or departure to the afterlife.

It's impossible to change the whole world, but it's possible to do something to make the world change. It's impossible to stop the war, but we can create a safe space among the grandeur of the Carpathians, where the soul can leave fatigue and find new meanings to continue Living. This very change is what we, "From pain to freedom" are trying to implement in times of darkness, lighting a ray of light and hope.

How? We organize nature therapy trips to the Carpathians for military, veterans, those freed from captivity and their families. And you too can join the change!

About organization founders:

1. Shukal Khrystyna soul and leader of NGO "From pain to freedom"

Has experience organizing inclusive travels and implemented 5 trips to the Carpathians for military, veterans, freed from captivity and their family members (150 beneficiaries). Studies clinical psychology and nature therapy at the international association of nature therapists (N-AT). Art therapist, musician, certified in military psychology. Thanks to Transcarpathian roots, she is a guide into the world of nature, inner strength and Carpathian magic. Video filmed during one of the military trips on YouTube:

2. Starchenko Hennadii volunteer of "Donbas" battalion, defender of Azovstal, veteran who survived 6 months of captivity. Former participant of autumn military trip, after which he decided to join NGO "From pain to freedom" providing legal support. Cooperates with veteran organizations and actively helps veterans, freed from captivity, wives of fallen soldiers and families of the missing in resolving legal issues and restoring justice. Hennadii tells about his captivity story in a YouTube video:

Together we continue seeking inner strength after survived trials, both within partnership in the organization and beyond. Our own experience gives us deep understanding that such trips are extremely important not only for military experiencing primary trauma, but also for their family members. They daily share the emotional burden of defenders and face PTSD consequences — flashbacks, nightmares and psychophysiological manifestations, experiencing secondary trauma.

The program will combine nature therapy and psychological practices aimed at stabilizing participants' psycho-emotional state, forming self-regulation skills and strengthening family bonds.

An updated multidisciplinary team of veterans, psychologists, nature therapists and other qualified facilitators will be involved in implementing the trip to provide comprehensive support and restore the psycho-emotional state of military and their family members.

Project is implemented with support of Veterans All-Ukrainian NGO "Legion of Truth".

The trip is dedicated to volunteers and brothers-in-arms who faithfully stood for Ukraine until the end of their lives. Eternal memory to the Heroes.

We believe that recovery is a process that begins with safety, presence and support. This is exactly what we strive to give project participants on the path "From pain to freedom".
