School of Authentic Traditions "Blue Chest"

The School of Authentic Traditions "Blue Chest" has been working for three years for the residents of Zdolbuniv community and unites everyone who cares about preserving Ukrainian culture — children, parents, teachers and active residents. During this time, the project team became convinced: living knowledge of traditions through games, workshops, rituals and art is not only interesting, but also vital for the community. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17d9VKHDGi/
In conditions of war, forced migration, digital oversaturation and constant information pressure, the question of preserving national and cultural identity becomes particularly acute. People lack a sense of roots, belonging and community. It is tradition, family memory and living culture that become what holds, unites and gives a sense of home. Formation of family values and transmission of cultural heritage from generation to generation strengthens Ukrainian statehood and social resilience. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1HPtkwM6Ar/
"Blue Chest" works according to the traditional festive-ritual calendar, which covers four cycles — winter, spring, summer and autumn. Each has its own rituals, symbols and practices. Project participants don't just learn about them — they live these traditions together: through joint workshops, ritual actions, folk games, songs and creativity. This format helps restore connections between generations and return family traditions to modern everyday life. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AUbj2jzTs/
Zdolbuniv community, like many Ukrainian cities, became a shelter for internally displaced persons and families affected by war. Many community residents are fighting, died or are considered missing. Families of servicemen, IDPs, wives and children of the dead and missing need not only material but also psycho-emotional support, a safe space for communication and recovery.
The School of Authentic Traditions "Blue Chest" becomes just such a space. The project already has experience working with these families. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CuhGdp7hd/ Joint classes and events create an environment of trust and support where people can meet, communicate, find support, "put down roots" in a new place and feel part of the community. For many participants, this becomes an important emotional reset and source of inner strength.
During its work, the team received numerous positive feedback from Zdolbuniv residents and requests to expand activities. More and more people want to join "Blue Chest", but existing resources are no longer sufficient to cover all interested parties. Additional funding will allow expanding the program, purchasing equipment, materials and tools for workshops and making participation accessible for families who don't have the financial ability to pay.
