ReBone: Titanium Implants Instead of Amputation and Prosthetics
In cases of extremely severe combat injuries, just a few years ago the solution was often only one — amputation followed by prosthetics.
Today, thanks to custom-made titanium implants, another option has become possible: to preserve a limb, a part of the body, or critical structural support without which a full life is impossible.
This is exactly why the ReBone project was created — to ensure that wounded military personnel and civilians in Ukraine have access to complex, precise implantation in cases where there were almost no chances before.

Within the project, Ukrainian doctors take on surgeries that are sometimes considered impossible, while custom implants help avoid radical and irreversible decisions.

One of ReBone’s patients is Mykhailo Vlasenko, 29 years old. In October 2022, he reported for military service without hesitation, the very next day after receiving the call. He initially served in the elite 81st Air Assault Brigade, took part in combat operations in the Donetsk region, and sustained his first injury there.
After recovery, Mykhailo returned to service, transferring to a communications brigade.

On August 7, 2025, while carrying out another mission in the Sumy region, he suffered a critical injury. A firearm fragment penetrated his head. The consequences were severe: he lost his left arm, part of his foot, and retained only 30% vision in one eye. Such injuries require complex surgical intervention.
For Mykhailo, a surgery using a custom titanium cranioplasty implant has been planned. This implant is needed to protect the brain and give him a chance for further recovery. The procedure will create the necessary conditions for rehabilitation and overall physical restoration.
The fundraising amount for this case is UAH 82,830.
The funds will be used to manufacture the implant required for the surgery and Mykhailo’s further recovery.
The implants are custom-made within the ReBone project — a joint initiative of the TYKHO Charitable Foundation and Velta Medical. The Velta Medical team works in close cooperation with Ukrainian surgeons from different cities, developing personalized solutions and auxiliary templates for each case. This approach allows surgeries to be performed with maximum precision while preserving the function of affected areas.
The ReBone project builds a systematic and fast access to individualized implantation for wounded military personnel and civilians — regardless of the complexity of the injury, the cost of treatment, or the location of the patient.
Mykhailo has completed his part of the journey.
Today, we can do ours — by supporting his recovery.
