Previous volunteer experience: Our public organization is called "What Have You Done?" and by its very name encourages many people to participate in various social projects: from cleaning Kherson wetlands to raising chickens for low-income families. Our organization members understand that positive changes begin with ourselves, and therefore try to convey this to society. With the start of full-scale invasion our activities changed slightly, but team members remained true to their principles and continue doing good!
Our team has been working for 8 years and has experience implementing social projects for our dear Kherson residents, who today are under constant shelling. We see firsthand how important it is for people to receive help and support during military actions and humanitarian crisis.
Why we submitted this project: We decided to submit this project because we see urgent need for support for Kherson residents. Right now, when the city is in frontline zone, constantly shelled, has no stable electricity and heating due to damage to thermal power plant, most people lost ability to provide even basic needs for their families, and with onset of cold weather situation will worsen.
Our motivation: Our entire team is from Kherson, and many still remain in the city, so we're motivated by helping our hometown. We believe every person has right to dignified life and basic amenities, even in hardest conditions. So we want to provide citizens with support, warmth and hope when it's most needed.
Additionally, for project implementation our organization has already found: premises, hot meals and drinks, food packages, kettles, ecoflow, starlink, charging stations, clothing, blankets, so we're motivated not to abandon project halfway, but implement it 100%.
Project's social impact: Our "Gift Light" heating point project in Kherson has significant social impact on community. It helps support residents of frontline city by giving them opportunity to charge phones, warm up, rest, eat and dry things. Moreover, space will be equipped with children's zone, library, sleeping area with beds and sitting poufs. This gives our dear Kherson residents understanding that people care about them, that they're looked after and they, in turn, will have inspiration to care for others. So our project promotes community strengthening and supports local population's morale during war.
We believe that together with You we can change situation for better and help those who need it most.
