Educational Center "4-Space Library"

In rural areas, the library remains the only free center for self-development. The library in Mokra Kalygirka village, Zvenygorodsky district, Cherkasy region was created in 1911. Naturally, it has been renovated several times since then, but still doesn't meet modern demands and needs. In 2018, a conference hall was equipped with local budget funds, and in 2025 - a room for children's leisure, but there are insufficient funds to equip an educational space with computers, printer, scanner.
The village has 1602 residents, existing library resources are used only by quarter (400 visitors). The project aims to transform the classic book collection into a modern hybrid space. Due to outdated interior and lack of modern technology, the library becomes less attractive to youth, while elderly people lack a place to learn basic gadget skills.
Project goal: transform the library into a multifunctional center based on four vectors: learning, experience, meetings and events. This will create conditions for safe distance learning, digital inclusion and social cohesion of residents.
Target audiences and activities:
· Children and youth (256 people): Creating comfortable play zone (poufs, interactive literature) for early socialization of children under 6. For schoolchildren — creating technical base with computers and stable internet for exam preparation and meaningful leisure off the street.
· Golden age people (450 people): Implementing "Digital Literacy" program. Training in "Diya" portal, online banking and utility payment. Program includes cyberhygiene course for internet fraud protection. Local youth will be involved as mentors, ensuring intergenerational connection.
· Internally displaced persons (45 people): Ensuring connection with relatives, consultation help with social benefits and online legal services.
Project based on co-financing model:
Local authorities conduct premises renovation and staff financing.
Charitable funds directed to purchase technical complex (computers, projector, acoustics) and mobile transformer furniture (tables, chairs, poufs).
Expected results:
1. Modernization: Modern center for up to 40 people simultaneously created.
2. Popularity: Double increase in library visitors.
3. Digitalization: Engaging 40% residents (target groups) in digital education programs.
4. Inclusion: Full integration of 45 IDPs into community life through joint events.
5. Cohesion: Creating platform for intergenerational dialogue, where youth knowledge meets elder residents' experience.
Project timeline: 6 months.
Thanks to co-financing model, library transforms into viable social institution. It will function not only as book collection but also as digital services point, guaranteeing constant visitor flow and long-term community support.
