Mental Health of Ukrainians: Advanced Therapy for All

The charitable organization "Light of Hope" (linkhttps://www.lightofhope.com.ua/) has been supporting public health and social protection in Ukraine for 25 years, focusing on vulnerable groups such as drug users, sex workers, people with HIV, victims of violence and human trafficking.
Since the Russian invasion began, we expanded services for internally displaced persons and war veterans. Over the past two years we have helped 70,000 people.
We recognize the impact of the country's situation on the population's mental health. WHO forecasts that about 15 million Ukrainians will need psychological support, and 3-4 million will require medication treatment. We provide assistance through psychiatric facilities, primary healthcare, and NGOs. However, access to these services is limited, and private psychological services are expensive. Therefore, we implement training for medical and social workers on identifying mental disorders and referring to specialized professionals.
In 2024, we opened the first Mental Health Medical Center "Mental Hub" in Poltava (https://www.facebook.com/mentalhubpoltava). The Center employs Ukraine's best psychologists and psychotherapists who provide free services supported by international grants. We provide medical assessment and medication treatment for those who need it.
Our platform project aims to purchase transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) brain equipment. TMS is a non-invasive procedure that helps improve symptoms of mental and neurological disorders, including PTSD, depression and anxiety (Read more about TMS here: https://expert-health.com.ua/blog/statti/tms-zaminit-liki-pri-nevrologichnih-hvorobah-ta-depresii/). TMS equipment costs 29,750 Euros. We seek patrons to help make this technology accessible to our clients, including war veterans and internally displaced persons.
Project implementation will have great social impact. We expect reduced anxiety and depression levels among clients, improved quality of life and social integration. Innovative therapies like TMS will help overcome difficulties and ensure sustainable improvements for our beneficiaries.
