Revival Workshop for IDP women with disabilities by CreativeHub
Launched on: 07.11.2025
Each member of our initiative group has experienced forced displacement and housing loss. Each of us is involved in projects restoring our people and country in various aspects and spheres. Since 2014, Yana works as a psychologist and trainer with people from frontline territories, IDPs, those experiencing loss and difficult life circumstances. She has experience implementing many successful psychosocial and financial support projects in collaboration with various organizations. Victoria and Mark are team members who developed and promote the social project Steel Dream - a concept for Ukraine's rapid reconstruction, an initiative aimed at country restoration. Both have long worked in architecture and design, creative development through decorative arts, etc. Our experience adds not only professional expertise to our activities, but also deep understanding of the importance of long-term, sustainable changes. We developed this initiative because we see the special needs of women with disabilities who were forced to leave their homes due to war and settled in Kyiv. They face a double challenge: overcoming traumatic displacement experience and daily barriers related to disability. Our project creates space for psychological support and personal growth through creative self-realization. It helps restore self-confidence, reduce anxiety levels, learn self-regulation skills, and begin one's own creative path that can grow into entrepreneurial activity. For us, it's important not just to "support," but to provide tools that will work after the program ends. That's why we combine psychotherapeutic practices with applied creativity, as this is the most powerful way of recovery. Over 8 weeks (32 hours) 16 participants — women with disabilities and IDP status — will receive: psychological support and group sessions; anxiety reduction practices and self-regulation tools; creative self-expression experience and creating their own products: thread applications, 3D panels, clay birds, painted shoppers and beeswax candles. The final eighth session is open to families, partners and media, featuring creative activities for children and parents, plus an auction of participants' works. Auction proceeds will support the next course, ensuring sustainable project development. Additionally, an invited financial specialist will provide recommendations on opening individual entrepreneurship. These products can become the first step toward an entrepreneurial portfolio. Participants will receive not only psychological recovery, but also opportunities for developing their own business. Social impact extends far beyond the group: these women's experience will inspire the community, and their creative products can become symbols of strength, resilience and new beginnings. We aim to show society that women with disabilities have enormous potential and deserve spaces of opportunity. Our project is a step toward implementing a large-scale project creating a network of CreativeHub spaces throughout Ukraine
