Nation Code 360°: VR history quests for Bohodukhiv community children

"Now imagine…" — a phrase children hear in lessons daily. But how to imagine what you've never seen?
Our project offers a different solution: don't imagine — live it.
Nation Code 360°: VR history quests for Bohodukhiv community children
This isn't just a lesson — it's immersion into the past where history comes alive around the child. Without textbooks and dry facts — through experience, emotions and personal choice.

We create a series of 5 interactive historical VR quests for Bohodukhiv community children. Each quest is a separate time journey where participants become not observers but heroes of events.
How does it work?
20 children in each quest.
Trainer — PhD in History, researcher and urbanist plus three volunteers who assist in the process
Before starting, children choose the scenario themselves — by voting. This is the first step toward responsibility and involvement.
Choose your story:
1. Kyivan Rus: state-building mission
Together with Prince Yaroslav the Wise, children journey through medieval Kyiv. They'll help create just laws according to "Ruska Pravda" and prepare the state to defend against nomads.
2. Scythians vs Greeks: war or trade?
Two teams find themselves on different sides of history. Will they choose conflict or find a path to beneficial cooperation? The decision lies with participants.
3. Zaporizhzhian Sich: choose the hetman
Immersion into the world of Cossacks: weapons, daily life, traditions. But the main thing — hetman elections. Who will lead? Maybe it'll be you?
Minimum "imagine" — maximum experience
Using VR and augmented reality elements
Developing patriotism, critical thinking and emotional intelligence
Before and after the quest — brief survey to track changes in knowledge and anxiety levels
Duration of one quest: 2–2.5 hours
This is the time when history stops being a subject — and becomes personal experience.
Modern children grow up in a world of uncertainty and anxiety. Our project helps them understand their roots, feel community strength and see they're part of history being made right now.
