"Constitution School" for legal education of Ukrainian citizens

Due to russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine's territory and with the author's consent, 3904.90 hrn was transferred to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Money in envelopes for school repairs, payments for treatment in municipal hospitals from their own pocket, bad roads have one reason: Ukrainian citizens don't understand their possibilities to influence the work of local government bodies.
The "Constitution School" project team has helped many people solve issues related to the realization of Constitutional rights. With the acquired knowledge, people organized repairs in kindergartens, opened and updated classes in municipal schools, ensured treatment, road repairs and improvement of residential areas using funds from their local budget.
To change life for the better, you need to know what to change and how. We, Ukrainian citizens, need knowledge about our rights and duties to be able to directly participate in local self-government and change the situation around us.
Therefore, our team of human rights defenders plans to record an online course on legal awareness for Ukrainian citizens, which will help you simply and clearly learn about your human and citizen rights, stop being afraid and learn to interact with government officials and local services to achieve positive results.

This course will help ordinary people – parents and teachers, doctors and hospital patients, drivers and cyclists – solve existing problems in their homes, schools and kindergartens, healthcare institutions and on roads.
And simultaneously the Constitution course will help become more conscious citizens, learn about their rights and duties and learn to implement them in real life.
What do we want to do?
Create and record an online course about local self-government, the Constitution of Ukraine and realization of Ukrainian citizens' rights.
This course will be built on practical recommendations that will help solve specific issues and simultaneously learn more about the Constitution, structure of local bodies, your rights and possibilities as a territorial community member.
In this course we'll tell how through personal participation in local self-government issues each of us can influence the process of providing necessary budget funding for schools and kindergartens, help local services qualitatively restore road surfaces, make repairs in entrances and hospitals, house insulation to pay less during heating season.
Light bulbs and cleaning in entrances, normal funding in schools, necessary equipment and medicines in hospitals can be obtained by knowing your rights and skills to use them in practice.

Who is this course for?
For ordinary people: parents of children, hospital patients, city and town residents.
For people who are tired of constant money collections in schools and hospitals, of driving on bad roads. We'll help you stop being afraid of communicating with officials and teach you to solve such issues without rallies and demonstrations. Instead of fighting for your rights, you'll learn to cooperate with your representatives so they themselves will want to satisfy your requests.
What are we already doing?
Example of parents implementing their Constitutional rights in school:
There are dozens of similar examples. Here are some of our cases:
1. With direct participation of Initiative groups in Kozachka and Taranivka villages, old electric poles were replaced with new ones, street lighting was established.
2. Road intersection in Kharkiv was repaired under warranty at contractor's expense.
3. An interactive classroom was opened in a municipal school.
4. Ensured treatment of people in state hospital from budget funds.
5. Repaired a group in kindergarten.
6. Created self-organization bodies - house committees, repaired buildings with budget funds and ensured quality work of municipal enterprises.
7. In Fastiv district, people created an initiative group and actively participate in solving issues relevant to the community.
8. Created an information-educational center in Lozova. A Ukrainian citizen, member of Lozova territorial community, nominated himself for mayor position on behalf of citizens' assemblies.
9. Initiative group of citizens who participated in Chernobyl disaster liquidation cooperates with People's Deputies of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada committees and directly participates in the legislative process.
We want to systematize our experience and make this knowledge accessible to all Ukrainian citizens. Therefore we decided to record this online course.

Why this is important for Ukraine
For Ukraine's development, citizens are needed who know the Constitution of Ukraine, their rights and can defend and implement them. Such people are the foundation of civil society in any democratic country.
When Ukraine has more than 10% conscious citizens - our country will transform into a legal, social state where it's pleasant to live, raise children and work.
How will this affect my personal life?
Each of us constantly interacts with the surrounding environment. You wake up in the morning and turn on the light - and it should work. In the bathroom you open the tap - hot and clean water should flow. You leave the apartment - and want to get to a clean entrance.
Kindergarten, school, roads and sidewalks, public transport and trees, street cleanliness - all these issues concern local self-government.
Our course will help active citizens solve them more effectively.
If we together with you help one person become a conscious citizen and territorial community member, teach them to implement their Constitutional rights - this will change not only their life. This will positively affect the lives of dozens of other people. And yours too.
