"Pottery Development Room" for children with special educational needs

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Center for Children with Disabilities of Starokostiantyniv City Council
The Center has experience in providing comprehensive rehabilitation, social and correctional-developmental services to children with disabilities and children with special educational needs. The facility regularly conducts sessions on psychological support, social adaptation, self-service skills development, creative and correctional-developmental activities. Center specialists have experience working with children with various nosologies and implement individual rehabilitation programs. The Center participated in the Small Grants project, where it became one of the winners.
The community lacks a specially equipped space for conducting pottery and art therapy sessions for children with disabilities. Most families cannot afford to visit paid studios or specialized centers in other cities. The project aims to overcome the deficit of accessible rehabilitation and developmental services, create a safe environment for creative self-expression, development of motor, sensory and communication skills of children.
Within the project, a pottery development room will be set up at the comprehensive rehabilitation center. Regular group and individual pottery and art therapy sessions for children with disabilities are planned. Sessions will be conducted by a pottery specialist with the help of Center specialists, taking into account the individual needs of each child. Open master classes for parents and children are also planned.
Project implementation will contribute to:
improving children's psycho-emotional state;
developing fine motor skills, movement coordination, sensory integration;
increasing socialization and communication skills levels;
forming positive self-esteem and belief in one's own abilities;
expanding access of children with disabilities to quality rehabilitation services in the community;
reducing social isolation of families raising children with SEN.
For visual design, photos of the room where the pottery room is planned, photos from current sessions at the center, illustrative materials of examples of children's pottery products, as well as infographics indicating the project goal and expected results will be used.
