The camp's activities began in 2018 on the initiative of parents of schoolchildren — graduates of the "Teddy" children's club, who needed a safe, meaningful and caring space for children during holidays.
In 2019, thanks to cooperation with the Children's Services, the camp's mission was formed, which became our tradition of interacting with children
"peer - to peer"
During the camp's activities, children:
• painted pictures;
• organized charity fairs;
• prepared concert programs - thus raising funds to support a specific child from a vulnerable category.
A child in difficult life circumstances was invited to the camp, introduced to the team, and joint classes and events were held. This is how we maintained the "peer-to-peer" interaction principle. Over the years of operation, our camp was visited by 12 children from vulnerable categories. During the integration of children from vulnerable categories, we observed:
•sincere manifestations of kindness and compassion;
•rethinking of values among children;
•motivation from children for active participation of parents in good deeds (donating clothes, school supplies, treats, etc.).
This experience confirmed: children are capable of deep empathy if safe and supportive conditions are created. Today the number of children from vulnerable categories is rapidly growing. Often their lives are isolated and separated from society. Such children need support and acceptance, as well as tolerance from peers.
We strive to contribute to forming a generation of children who:
•understand their feelings and needs;
•know how to express them;
•learn to empathize and support others;
•discover their own talents and apply them in joint activities.
What do we do?
We organize a children's residential camp for two age groups:
•8–10 years
•11–14 years
Each group will include children from vulnerable categories. This is how we ensure interaction between children based on the "peer-to-peer" principle.
Why do we do this?
So that children with difficult life paths:
• don't feel alienated;
• aren't devalued;
• have the opportunity to realize their potential in society.
We unite children with different needs, teach them to support, love, empathize, work together.
After the camp, children::
• value themselves and others;
• are ready for active participation in social life;
• know how to apply their skills in joint activities;
• form the foundation of a tolerant and free society in Ukraine.
